The Suhr Select Modern T Mahogany guitars are a collaboration between Humbucker Music and Suhr and is available in very limited numbers. The Modern T Select was designed to bring the craftsmanship and quality of Suhr's Modern T line of guitars to a more affordable price while providing the player with some of Suhr's most popular appointments. If you were to custom order this guitar from Suhr, it would cost $3950 with an approximately 14 month lead time.

Our first run of these guitars (back in 2018) were extremely popular, so we decided to bring them back with a few minor tweaks. For these models, we are using Genuine Mahogany for the bodies and necks, not African Okoume or Khaya, and a Rosewood fingerboard as opposed to Pao Ferro.

This guitar sports a beautiful Flamed Maple top that when combined with the mahogany body and Thornbucker pickups delivers a fat, well-balanced tone. Smooth without any harsh overtones.

The finishing process provides an unparalleled combination of protection and beauty, while the thinnest possible coats of finish are applied to allow the wood to resonate freely and still provide ample protection. These guitars are light, toneful and perfectly balanced.

About the Select Series: So what is the difference between a Suhr Custom Modern T and a Modern T Select? Nothing! The Modern T Select is a fixed spec guitar with different finishes. With Suhr Custom guitars, you can practically customize every spec of your guitar. The Modern T Select guitars use the most common specs requested by players, allowing the EXACT same quality as a Custom, but at a better price.

About the pickups in this guitar: Suhr ThornBucker Pickups are designed out of a need for a no-compromise, consistent set of 50's Gibson PAF style pickups with none of the downsides associated with them. 50's Gibson PAF humbucker pickups have long since been coveted for their exceptional tone and ability to play both clean and dirty. With inspiration from Pete Thorn, Suhr has brought us the perfect set of PAF pickups, while also bringing them into the modern age. The ThornBucker pickups have 4 conductor wiring (ability to coil tap) and a variety of spacing options.

Don't let the price fool you, the Select Series is still built to the same quality standards you would expect from Suhr, only we just do them in larger runs to save you a serious chunk of change. These are made with the same woods, components, hands, and processes (including the PLEK machine) that make the custom Suhr guitars.

With Custom Suhr Guitars: Each Suhr Custom guitar is built precisely to the customer's specs. Special woods, special inlays, neck shapes, fret sizes, colors, electronics, you name it. That whole process is a lengthy one and requires lots of special attention along the way to insure a custom Suhr is *EXACTLY* as the customer specified. IN addition, the machines that cut cut the necks, bodies, etc have to be reprogrammed for each guitar. The paint shop has to change everything up for each individual guitar. You get the picture.

With Select Series Suhr Guitars: The specs are all set and fixed for the entire run. Same body/neck woods, electronics, neck shapes, fret sizes, etc. We get together with Suhr and select the most common specs that customers request for a specific model, change up the colors a bit for variation, and do a run of 50+ at a time. But here's where the story gets more interesting... With the select series, *EVERY* step of the build process is exactly like the Custom build process. The same pickups, hardware, woods, etc are used for the select series. The same PLEK machines are used on the select Series. The same guys that do the setups and final finishing on the Customs are the guys who do it on the Selects.

So what does that mean? It means if a build spec for a Select Series guitar matches what you're wanting, then you'd be crazy not to get the the Select. :) It's the same guitar. Period. Honestly, it's a steal, and we think people should take advantage before Suhr comes it it's senses and does away with the Select Series.
