The Classic S is designed for the player who wants the ability to produce iconic classic Fender Stratocaster tones while having all the benefits of a custom Suhr guitar. The Classic Pro features low noise Suhr V60LP pickups, stainless steel frets and modern hardware like Suhr Locking Tuners and a Gotoh 510 Tremolo Bridge! The Classic S is the answer to the demand for a Suhr classic guitar without the antiquing of the Suhr Classic Antique. Each Suhr Classic S goes through the same renowned individual setup process that $10-15k Suhr Custom guitars go through. For the money, these guitars simply CANNOT be beat.

Each Suhr Classic S is built with a two-piece alder body. Alder is known for its rich low and mid-range tonal qualities as well as its lighter overall weight. Suhr takes great care in finishing the body with an ultra "Thin Skin" urethane finish, allowing for the wood to resonate freely while still providing plenty of protection to ensure the longevity of these guitars.

The neck is made from quartersawn maple and features a vintage 60's C shape with medium stainless steel frets. The frets feature rolled edges and a 9"-12" compound radius, great for smooth bends. These appointments create a comfortable, fast feeling neck with long lasting playability.

The Classic S is available with both HSS and SSS pickups featuring the Suhr V60LP single coil. The V60LP single coil is design to be an exceptionally dynamic and responsive pickup with a balanced tone. They feature tight snappy lows and shimmering highs that have a smooth cutout. Suhr has also incorporated a staggered pole piece design to compensate for the flatted neck and fret radius, this design provides a more even tone and response across the strings.

About the Pickups in this Guitar

Every V60LP pickup is hand-built, precisely wound (using Suhr's proprietary winding process) and features: plain enamel wire, specially formulated Alnico V magnets, and vintage correct gray fiber bottoms. The V60LP also incorporates a modified staggered pole piece design, which provides an even magnetic field that is perfect for capturing those soaring multi-step bends that became an essential ingredient of the classic Strat solo. Another benefit is that they are a great fit for today’s flatter neck radius equipped guitars.

V60LP’s are exceptionally dynamic and respond to every nuance of your playing. Their tone is balanced with tight snappy lows and shimmering highs that cut ever so sweetly without sounding harsh. Whether you play Rock, Blues, or R&B, the V60LP is ideal for the player searching for the ultimate vintage era single-coil pickup.

The V60 Middle Pickup is RWRP (reverse wound, reverse polarity)

Don't let the price fool you, the Pro Series is still built to the same quality standards you would expect from Suhr, only we just do them in larger runs to save you a serious chunk of change. These are made with the same woods, components, hands, and processes (including the PLEK machine) that make the custom Suhr guitars.

With Custom Suhr Guitars: Each Suhr Custom guitar is built precisely to the customer's specs. Special woods, special inlays, neck shapes, fret sizes, colors, electronics, you name it. That whole process is a lengthy one and requires lots of special attention along the way to insure a custom Suhr is *EXACTLY* as the customer specified. IN addition, the machines that cut cut the necks, bodies, etc have to be reprogrammed for each guitar. The paint shop has to change everything up for each individual guitar. You get the picture.

With Pro Series Suhr Guitars: The specs are all set and fixed for the entire run. Same body/neck woods, electronics, neck shapes, fret sizes, etc. We get together with Suhr and select the most common specs that customers request for a specific model, change up the colors a bit for variation, and do a run of 50+ at a time. But here's where the story gets more interesting... With the pro series, *EVERY* step of the Pro Series build process is exactly like the Custom build process. The same pickups, hardware, woods, etc are used for the Pro series. The same PLEK machines are used on the Pro Series. The same guys that do the setups and final finishing on the Customs are the guys who do it on the Pros.

So what does that mean? It means if a build spec for a Pro Series guitar matches what you're wanting, then you'd be crazy not to get the Pro. :) It's the same guitar. Period. Honestly, it's a steal, and we think people should take advantage before Suhr comes it it's senses and does away with the Pro Series. They already had a major price increase recently on the Pros, which came *after* we scheduled our special runs, so we're still able to offer them at the old price. After they're gone, you can expect to see a price increase of $500+ per Pro Series guitar. No joke... Get them while you can at these prices.
