The Precision Bass debuted in 1951 as the world’s first successful electric bass guitar, even creating a new kind of musician—the electric bassist—and taking its place in history with an enduring and deeply profound effect on music as we know it today. Taking its headstock from the Telecaster and later lending its shapely form to the Stratocaster, the Precision Bass is undoubtedly one of Leo Fender’s greatest innovations. To honor its 70th anniversary, the Fender Custom Shop has recreated the original in all its beautifully simple glory. Presented in six distinct finish packages, from NOS to super heavy relic and everything in between, there’s a finish for every taste.

The Limited Edition 1951 Precision Bass features a two-piece select ash body and a one-piece tinted quartersawn maple neck with a ’51 “U” profile, 7.25” fingerboard radius and 20 medium vintage frets for perfect feel and comfort just like the original. The hand-wound ’55 P-Bass pickup delivers the punch that changed music so forcefully all those years ago. Other features include single-ply black phenolic pickguard, tinted maple finger rest, ’51 P-Bass bridge with original fiber saddles, vintage tuning machines, bone nut, and disk string guide. Includes deluxe hardshell case, strap and certificate of authenticity.
