The all new Carr Skylark Special Combo is an updated version of the beloved Skylark. We were a little leery when Steve told us an update was coming as the Skylark is one of our all-time favorite Carr amps, but we trusted his expertise and the final product is awesome!

Hear countless classic American guitar recordings and you'll notice a common thread: the delicious, juicy tones of the tweed and blackface era. Known for producing both clean and overdriven tube sounds at reasonable volumes, amps like the '50s tweed Harvard, Deluxe, and '60s blackface Princeton Reverb inspired the creation of the Carr Skylark. The new Skylark Special stays true to this tradition, with added versatility and even richer sonic capabilities in this updated version of the original model.

The Carr Skylark Special boasts an impressive 12 watts thanks to its pair of 6V6GT power tubes. But don't let its classic-inspired design fool you - this amp offers much more than the average option on the market. With standout features like a super-handy Mid control and extended-range Presence control, the Skylark provides unparalleled sonic flexibility. And with a Hi/Low gain switch and onboard attenuator, you can easily adjust the drive and output for a smooth transition from tweed-to-blackface, making it perfect for any playing situation. Plus, the addition of the popular H73 setting, inspired by the iconic Hiwatt tone, gives the amp a bold and punchy British voice that can be toggled with a simple switch. 

The Skylark's famous tube-driven spring reverb has been improved for the perfect blend of lush and multi-dimensional sounds. The newly designed, vintage-inspired cabinet is lightweight and made from high-quality Baltic-birch plywood, resulting in better focused tonal projection. The EZ81 tube rectifier has replaced fast-recovery diodes, giving players a more responsive and tactile playing experience. Overall, this combo amp is a versatile and expressive choice for both studio and club performances.

The Carr Skylark Special is constructed with top-notch materials and craftsmanship, true to Carr's reputation. It features high-quality military and aerospace-grade power supply components, nine additional Jupiter signal capacitors (which may be pricier, but add a fantastic sound), and resistors inspired by the golden era of tube amps, all put together with genuine point-to-point wiring.
