Gibson Burstbucker Type 1 Humbucker Pickup, Nickel
- DESCRIPTION
At Gibson’s original Kalamazoo facility, the earliest Patent Applied For humbuckers were crafted using less precise winding machines, leading to pickups with diverse output and tonal characteristics. The Burstbucker™ series is Gibson’s effort to authentically replicate the distinct sound of those original humbuckers. Introduced in the early 1990s, the Gibson Burstbucker Types 1, 2, and 3 meticulously reproduce the nuanced dynamics of classic humbucker tones through historically accurate coil windings and Alnico 2 magnets. These pickups deliver an open, resonant sound and, when pushed into overdrive, produce a distinctive distortion highlighted by enhanced high frequencies, reminiscent of the originals’ signature voice.
The Gibson Burstbucker Type 1 offers a lower output ideal for the neck position, providing clear, articulate tones with vintage character. Like all Burstbuckers, it features non-wax-potted construction and vintage braided two-conductor wiring, ensuring classic performance and ease of installation while preserving dynamic response and tonal clarity.
