Dr. Z engineered the PHD by cherry-picking the best sonic DNA from amp history. Swapping in a beefy 6SL7 preamp tube brought muscular richness, while a Gold Lion KT66 power tube delivered the articulation and frequency spread that made Steve Cropper's Telecaster sing through a tweed Harvard. The upgrade to a 5U4 rectifier pushed the wattage to a sweet 10 watts - just enough clean headroom to let your pedals breathe, yet still responsive enough to churn out that satisfying grind when you dig in.
