Josh Bates Bio at Humbucker Music I have been at Humbucker Music for nearly 6 years now.  I started working here my senior year of high school and it has really been a privilege each day to work in a fun environment with knowledgeable co-workers .  Although the guys and myself must maintain knowledge in all of the departments, guitar is definitely my primary instrument, so I spend most of my time at the store on that end of the musical spectrum.  My list of responsibilities around here include accounts receivable and payable, ordering and inventory manager, warehouse manager, customer service, sales floor, and guitar instructor.

I am constantly working to improve my guitar tone, so I guess I'm on that endless pursuit that many players have began.  I like great pedals and amps as much as the next guy,  and working around really cool gear has made the pursuit very enjoyable!  I've had my small share of equipment over the years, but I'm really happy with my current setup.  Right now I am playing a Dr. Z Maz JR NR 1x12 and an Orange AD30TC that I run in stereo with a Keeley Framptone ABY amp switcher.

On my main pedalboard my setup runs as follows:

Diamond Compressor  -  Fulltone OCD  -  Fulltone Fulldrive 2  -  Durham Electronics Sex Drive  -  RMC 3 Wah  -  Fulltone Mini Deja Vibe  -  Red Witch Pentavocal Tremolo  -  Electro Harmonix Micro POG  -  Ernie Ball VP JR Volume Pedal  -  Electro Harmonix Deluxe Memory Man  -  Diamond Memory Lane 2 SFG edition  -  Moog EP2 expression pedal  -  Dr. Scientist Reverberator  -  Boss TU-2 tuner pedal.

I have a smaller backup pedalboard (again, I really like pedals) that includes the following:

Fulltone Fat Boost  -  Xotic RC booster  -  Fulltone Supa Trem  -  Ernie Ball VP JR volume pedal  -  Boss TU-2  -  Line 6 DL4  -  Electro Harmonix Holy Grail  -  Boss RV -5

My friend and co-worker Brian has really turned me on to fuzz pedals.  I'm thinking about following in his footsteps with a Barber Trifecta.  For guitars, I'm mostly using single coils these days - Strat, Tele, Gretsch, SG with Phat Cats - but I still like to play a Les Paul Standard (good old humbuckers) every now and then.  If you ever have a question related to pedals and amps, please call and speak to me or one of the other guys.  Gosh, call us about anything music. Sometimes it can be hard to catch me as I also teach guitar lessons here, so I am in and out of the lesson rooms, but everyone here is enthusiastic about music and gear.  Thanks for checking us out and I hope to hear from you soon!
